1. *NO ALCOHOL is allowed on the
trails. Alcoholic beverages should be left for the end of the day back
at the campsite, home, not on the trail or street.

DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR, verbal or otherwise, will be tolerated at meetings
or events.

4. Meetings will
start promptly at 6:30PM on the second Thursday of the month (this may
be changed at any time).
5. Dues are to be paid by January 31st.
(All members must attend the meeting to pay dues and renew their
membership). Current members that pay after January 31st will
be considered as “New Members” and subject to New Member requirements.

Membership Requirements:
. Members must
attend a minimum of four meetings per year;
. Members must
attend a minimum of one official social club event
(e.g., dinner,
movie, 4-wheeling event) per year.
. Members must
participate in a minimum of one
Civic/public
service activity per year - if applicable.
7. All membership
requests and or renewals will be reviewed by the Board of Directors. The
Executive Board has the right to decline any requests for membership.
The decision to decline a request will be determined by a majority vote
from the Board Members.
8. New Members: New members must
be sponsored by an active member in good standing (e.g.: dues paid, met
membership requirements).
New members will be subject to a one year probation period; membership
can be terminated at any time during that period, by the determination
of the majority of the Board of Directors.
9. All participating members will be required to attend a mandatory
"Drivers' Meeting" at every official 4-wheeling club event before
beginning any trails. "Trail Leaders" and "Tail Gunners" will be
designated by the Safety Committee. Only the official "Trail Leaders"
are to be leading groups on 4-wheeling trails/runs.
10. Random Safety
Checks consisting of the items from the Safety List can be given at any
time the Safety Committee deems fit.
11. SEAT BELTS for all passengers are to be worn
at all times.
12. No
reckless driving; anyone caught doing so will be subject to
a fine from the club. (Speeding, burn-outs, etc. during road rallies,
parades, etc.). This applies to street also...driving
only.
13. No illegal Off roading;
anyone caught doing so will be subject to a fine from the club. Anyone
illegally off roading is on their own (not affiliated with Michiana
Jeepers).
14. The annual
"Anniversary Run & Picnic" and the "Summer Picnic Run" are the only two
events when all members will run the trails as an entire group; members
will not be divided into smaller groups to run different trails. Any
member(s) choosing to run trails without the group are not a part of the
official run and are not eligible for the food and prizes provided by
Club.

to be found in every Jeep when participating in any Michiana Jeepers
club events. These items will also be required to be with the Jeep
in non-South Shore Jeepers sponsored events.

CONSTITUTION
AND BY-LAW'S OF SOUTH SHORE JEEPER'S CLUB
Article I. Organization and Name
The organization is a not for profit corporation, under the general
not for profit
corporation law of the State of Indiana, and the name of this
corporation pursuant to it's certification of the incorporation is
"South Shore Jeeper's Club" herein after referred to as the
club. .

ARTICLE ll. PURPOSE
The club shall: 1) Provide social, educational, and recreational
activities for its members. -~- 2) Participate in and support civic
activities for the betterment of the
community.
ARTICLE III.
MEMBERSHIP AND DUES
Section 1:
Members.
Membership in the
club shall be available on two levels: regular membership (including
charter members) and associate membership. Regular membership is
available to owners of four wheel drive jeeps. Each membership
includes voting
privileges for members over 18 and spouse or significant other. Each
spouse or significant other must meet the same requirements, as the
dues paying member except ownership of a four-wheel drive vehicle is
not required. Applicants for membership must be 18 years of age
(exceptions may be made by the Board of Directors), must hold a valid
drivers license and must show proof of insurance with a minimum
liability. Applicants must submit a properly filled out application.
Applicants must also have all the required equipment in or on their
jeep as described later in this Constitution.
Section 2:
Charter
Members. Members in good standing at the time this document is signed
into effect and who act as signers of this document shall be known as
Charter Members.
Section 3:
Associate
Members. Associate member status may be awarded to a business or
business person who regularly supports the club activities. An
individual may hold an associate membership as long as they promote
and support the club. Associate members will not have the right to
vote nor have to own a four-wheel drive jeep, meet the minimum age
requirement, or pay dues.
Section 4:
Members
Responsibilities.
A. It is the responsibility of each member to pay, in a timely
fashion, any dues or assessments required to maintain their membership
in good standing.
B. Members will be responsible for their own expenses.
C. Members must immediately notify the club Secretary of any change in
address and/or phone number.
D. Resignation by any member should be in writing and submitted to the
Secretary.
E. A member who owes dues or other money to the club and fails to pay
this money in a timely fashion will have the balance added to their
annual dues. A member will loose all privileges until all balances are
paid.
Section 5:
Discipline and
Termination of Membership. All members must conduct themselves in a
respectable and orderly fashion, whether in or out of club activities.
The Board of Directors, during a closed Board meeting, may vote for
expulsion of a member. The member shall be expelled if the majority of
the Board present vote to expel said member.
The Board of Directors may take action for any of the following
reasons: A. Disgracing the club in the public eye.
B. Dues and/or assessments are in arrears.
C. Infraction of one or more of the club rules.
Section 6:
Dues and
Assessments. Regular dues for this club are $25.00 per membership per
year payable in advance for the period from January 1st to December
31st. A special assessment may be added to members of the club if the
Board of Directors establishes the need for such a special assessment.
In that event, the Board of Directors shall propose an appropriate
motion at a regular meeting. The assessment will be levied equally to
all members.
ARTICLE IV. MEETINGS, RULES, and PROCEDURES
Section 1:
Meetings.
A. Meetings of the membership of the club shall be held once a month
at such times and places as designated by the Board of Directors.
B. Meetings of the Board of Directors shall be held once a month at
such times and places as designated by the club President.
B. A quorum at all meetings shall consist of25% of the regular
membership Section 2: Rules and Procedures. Unless otherwise
specified in this constitution and
By-laws, Roberts Rules of Order Revised, shall govern parliamentary
procedure.
ARTICLE V. ADMINISTRATION and OFFICERS
Section 1:
Officers. The
officers of the club shall consist of a President, VICE- Present,
SECRETARY, TREASURER, and SARGENT AT ARMS. This will be known as the
Executive Committee/Board of Directors. Other officers will consist of
up to four trustees and up to six members of a Safety committee. The
Executive committee/Board of Directors shall have the duty to plan the
agenda for all Board and general membership meetings. All officers
must be in good standing with the club to retain their position.
Section 2: Board
of
Directors /Executive Committee. The membership of both titles shall be
comprised of
the club officers~ Their duties shall
~
to conduct the day to day business,
to
make such decisions as might fulfill the aims of the organization, and
to audit the records of the past and present administration.
Section 3:
Terms of
Officers. There will be no limitation to the number of successive
terms a-member may hold office.
Section 4:
Committees.
The President and the Executive Committee/Board of Directors
may designate committees. Each committee shall be assigned by the
President to a Director, who shall be responsible for its' activities,
and who, will then appoint a committee chairperson.
ARTICLE VI. DUTIES and POWERS of OFFICERS
Section 1:
President. The
president shall oversee the day to day operations of the club. The
President is responsible for all officers of the club and will oversee
all committees. The President will promote club functions and oversee
dates for club events.
The President will take charge of all general membership meetings and
Board of Directors/Executive committee meetings. He shall be without
the right to vote on Board of Directors/Executive committee meetings
except in the event of a tie. Before the President votes to
decide a tie, he may ask for discussion on the matter, and then ask
for re-vote after the discussion has taken place. If a tie still
exists, the President may then vote to break the tie.
Section 2:
Vice-President. The~ Vice-president shall work closely with the
President on day to day operations of the club~ The Vice-president
will audit the point system at all Board meetings and ensure that it
is current. The Vice-president shall take charge, and maintain
accurate records,
of awards that are earned by the membership. .

Section 3:
Secretary. The
Secretary shall be responsible for taking minutes at all general
membership and Board meetings, and for all communications, incoming
and outgoing.
The Secretary shall read all communications at general meetings and
shall possess a key to the club post office box. The Secretary shall
update the club roster on a quarterly basis and distribute a copy to
each member. The Secretary shall retain applications of all past,
present, and prospective members. The Secretary shall assume the
responsibility of ledger roll call to determine the number of voting
members present, at the meetings, to determine if a quorum exists.
Section 4:
Treasurer. The
Treasurer shall be responsible for all accounts payable and receivable
and will maintain a ledger of all expenditures of the club. This
includes all dues
and assessments owed to the club. The Treasurer shall write checks~ to
accounts payable and make a note on each check as to its purpose. All
checks, prior to being disbursed, must be approved by the President
and any Board member listed on the checking account. The Treasurer
shall report all expenditures and report the club's financial status
at general membership and Board meetings. The Treasurer shall possess
a key to the club post office box.
Section 5:
Sergeant At
Arms. The Sergeant at arms shall call all meetings to order,
including general membership and Board meetings. The Sergeant at arms
shall restore order at meetings as needed or when the President so
directs. On club runs the Events Coordinator will inform the Sergeant
at arms~ when be (she) is ready to begin the run and
the Sergeant at arms shall make certain that all participants are in
their vehicles and ready to begin.
Section 6:
Trustee/Board
of Directors member. A Trustee shall examine the financial
records on a regular basis at Board meetings. A Trustee shall have the
right to challenge the Treasurer on any entries that may be
questionable. A Trustee will enforce the constitution.
A Trustee shall contact former members of the club to inquire of their
interest in re-joining the club.
Section 7:
Safety
Committee. The Safety committee shall consist of up to six members.
The Safety chairperson will report to the Board, Secretary, and the
Treasurer any and all infractions committed by any member of the club.
Any fines levied for infractions shall be paid by the next regular
club meeting. The Safety committee will, on occasion, inspect
member's jeeps for the required safety equipment. A member shall be
asked to show proof of a valid driver's license and/or proof of
insurance.
Article VII. VACANCY of OFFICERS
Section 1:
Vacancy of
Office. In the event of a vacancy in the office of Vice-President,
Secretary, Treasurer, Sergeant at Arms, or Safety officer, the
position will be filled on a voluntary basis. If this does not occur
the President shall have the power to fill any office until the
vacancy can be tilled.

ARTICLE VIII. EVENTS
Section 1:
Events
Coordinator. All events shall be subject to the approval of the Board of
Directors/Executive Committee. Events shall be under the direction of
the Events coordinator and his (her) assistants from the set time of the
start of an event to the termination of the event.
Section 2:
Safety. All
events must be conducted in an orderly fashion and with safety for
all concerned as the prime factor. Any member/guest participating in a
club event shall be subject to signing a liability release prior to
beginning the event.
The Safety committee shall maintain the right to inspect any jeep to
ensure that all requited safety equipment is president~ prior to an
event.
Section3:
Competition. All
competitive events shall be under the authority, supervision, and
control of the Board of Directors/Executive committee. They shall
determine the entrance classification and regulation's for various
events and shall approve trophies and awards to be- presented. Jeeps may
be subject to technical inspection according to the type of event
entered. If any jeep is found to be mechanically unsafe the participant
shall be disqualified ft-from entering the event.
Section 4:
Local
Regulations. We strongly encourage all members and guests participating
in an event to abide by the motor vehicle codes of the State concerned
and by the laws and regulations of the City, County, and property
involved.
Article IX. AMENDMENTS
This constitution and by-laws may be altered, amended, or repealed and a
new constitution and by-laws may be adopted by a vote of two-thirds of
the entire general membership. Any amendments to this constitution or
by-laws must be presented and discussed at two general membership
meetings and appear once in the newsletter before an amendment can be
voted upon.
